Sen. Vinehout won re-election in 2010 by only 403 votes; will she be a strong candidate statewide?
Of the Senate Democrats running in contested districts in the Republican landslide year of 2010, I was the only one to win re-election, defeating Tommie Thompson’s younger brother, Ed, who was a celebrity and iconic figure for 30 years in Monroe County (the second largest county in the Senate District). Ed carried his home county by 63%. I carried the rest of the district by 53%, enough to win by 403 votes. In the Senate District I ran 3.6% ahead of Feingold and 4.3% ahead of Barrett. I have demonstrated an ability to win in areas Democratic candidates must carry to win statewide.
